Hi.

Welcome to My Roaring Forties. I document what I’m thinking about, what I’ve learnt and what I’m trying to achieve

Week 6: A Middling Week

Week 6: A Middling Week

I feel like this week was a real mixed bag and my overwhelming feeling when reflecting on the week is one of dissatisfaction which is because I know I could have done better at both sticking to the plan and making the most of each session. I’ve reached a point where each workout is starting to feel comfortable and so of course the temptation is to coast through the session rather than upping the intensity.

Some quick stats for the week:

  • Total Relative Effort for the week: 139

  • Total Distance for the week: 32km

  • Total Time for the week: 5hrs42m

I feel like the Aborted Sunday Walk is symbolic of the week as a whole: we headed out to the Dandenong’s on Sunday for a long walk in the hills only to get 2km in when we think Rocky either stood on something sharp or got bitten on the foot. After about 10 mins with him unwilling to put any weight on the leg, we decided to turn around and send Kate back to pick up the car. After 15mins or so of waiting around, Rocky started to prance about as normal which of course was right when Kate turned up with the car. We ended up deciding that we would walk back to the carpark and head for brunch with the enjoyment of the walk tempered with the thought that we could have carried on. And that really sums up the week: coulda done better…..

Quote of the Week

There will always be road construction in life, and never a point when all the highways are fixed. Keep walking
