Hi.

Welcome to My Roaring Forties. I document what I’m thinking about, what I’ve learnt and what I’m trying to achieve

Week 14: A cold...not COVID

Week 14: A cold...not COVID

Almost no training this week due to a cold. A the cold was due to a ripper of a night out which was followed by a very debilitating hangover which in turn triggered the cold. So no exercise, apart from walking the dogs, during the week but two solid sessions on the weekend. I’ve started back at parkrun - although the Newport Lakes parkrun is much much harder than Albert Park! What’s helping my run/walking is we’ve put the dogs on a diet and they’ve lost all their overweightness so they’ve both got way more energy. Nahla who is 5, needs alot more exercise and likes running so on Sunday’s i’ve been taking her for a longer run/walk. Her cruising speed is around a 5:30min/km and I’m stretching to run 7:45min/km right now so I’m not quite sure who is taking whom for the run!

In any case, we had an excellent run/walk this morning with an average pace over the entire distance of 9:51min/km which is my best since Jan 2020 (or just before COVID)

  • Total Relative Effort for the week: 71

  • Total Distance for the week: 10.6

  • Total Time for the week: 1hr44

Quote of the Week

On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, ‘Okay, this is the limit’. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.
